Apple Wallet's Car Key Feature
- Announced at WWDC 2020: This feature allows users to add their car key to the Wallet app on iPhone or Apple Watch, enabling them to lock, unlock, and start their car.
- Modes of Operation:
- Passive Entry: Automatically unlocks the car when you approach with your device, starts the car once inside, and locks it as you walk away.
- Proximity: Requires holding the device close to the door handle or key reader for locking and unlocking.
- Remotely: Allows remote lock/unlock and other features using the device.
- Express Mode: Enables use without unlocking the device or authentication methods like Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.
- Sharing Support: Car keys can be shared via Messages, Mail, and AirDrop.
