7 More Features Bidding Adieu: Google Assistant's Declining Role on Android and Nest Devices

Google Assistant Losing 7 More Features Across Android, Nest Hub/Speakers
On March 16, 2025, it was announced that Google Assistant will be losing seven additional features. This follows a previous announcement in January 2024 where 18 features were to be removed across Android devices, smart displays, and speakers. The newly announced features being phased out include:
- Voice commands for favoriting, sharing, and asking about photo details.
- Voice control for changing photo frame and ambient screen settings on Smart Displays.
- Live conversation translation with Interpreter Mode.
- Birthday reminder notifications as part of Routines.
- Scheduling or hearing previously scheduled Family Bell announcements.
- Daily updates from the Assistant, such as weather reports.
- Using Google Assistant on car accessories connected via Bluetooth or AUX.
While some of these features can still be accessed through alternative methods, such as using the Google Photos app or creating Routines, others like Interpreter Mode and car accessory support are being fully removed. The dedicated Google Translate app is suggested as a replacement for live conversation translation.
