8K Video on the Horizon: Leaker Hints at iPhone 17 Pro's Camera Upgrade

Rumors are swirling that the iPhone 17 Pro might be capable of shooting 8K video, raising the bar for mobile videography.

A recent leak from a Chinese social media site Weibo hints that the iPhone 17 Pro may support 8K video recording. The current highest resolution supported by iPhones is 4K, but this new development aligns with Apple's trend of pushing technological boundaries. The rumor also mentions a potential 'half-aluminum and half-glass' design for the iPhone 17 series, although it’s more likely that significant camera upgrades will be exclusive to the Pro models. This isn't the first time 8K video has been rumored for iPhones; similar reports emerged in September 2024 regarding the iPhone 16 Pro. If true, the 8K capability could enhance the spatial video recording experience on Apple Vision Pro, depending on whether Apple uses one or two 8K sensors in the iPhone 17.
