Apple Celebrates a Decade of Apple Pay and Introduces New Features
Overview
Apple marked the tenth anniversary of Apple Pay by unveiling several new features that enhance user convenience, flexibility, and payment options. These updates include support for installment payments, reward redemptions, and broader compatibility with third-party browsers.
New Payment Options
- Installment Payments: Starting immediately, eligible users in the U.S. and U.K. can access flexible payment options from Klarna at checkout using Apple Pay on iPhone and iPad. Future updates will expand these options to include Citi, Synchrony, Fiserv, ANZ (Australia), DBS (Singapore), CaixaBank (Spain), HSBC (U.K.), NewDay, Zilch, and more.
- Reward Redemptions: With the latest iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 updates, U.S. users can redeem rewards from Discover credit cards when checking out with Apple Pay online and in-app. Future support will extend to Synchrony, Fiserv, FIS, DBS (Singapore), and other issuers.
Enhanced User Experience
- Third-Party Browser Support: Apple Pay is now available on third-party web browsers and computers, allowing users to complete payments by scanning a code with their iPhone or iPad.
- Tap to Provision: Users can easily add credit or debit cards to Apple Wallet by tapping their eligible card to the back of their iPhone.
- PayPal Integration: U.S. customers will soon be able to view their PayPal balance when using their PayPal debit card in Apple Wallet, providing greater transparency and confidence while shopping.

- iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 Required: Many new features are available with the latest software updates on eligible devices.
- Market-Specific Availability: Some features may not be available in all markets or for certain types of purchases, such as subscriptions and recurring transactions.
