AirPods 4 Teardown Exposes Minimal Enhancements, Persisting Repairability Issues

The iFixit team has conducted teardowns of Apple's latest AirPods 4 and AirPods Max updates, revealing only a few internal changes for the AirPods 4 and a continued lack of repairability across both models. The AirPods 4 are similar to the previous generation in terms of design structure, earning a low repair score of 0/10 due to challenges such as the inability to easily replace the battery inside the case. In contrast, Samsung, Sony and other companies have addressed this issue with their products. The latest version of the AirPods Max has no internal changes apart from the shift away from Lightning to USB-C charging. Overall, iFixit expresses disappointment on the repairability front for both models.
