AirPods Max (USB-C) Get Lossless Audio and Wired Playback with iOS 18.4 Update

Apple's USB-C AirPods Max are getting wired audio playback with lossless sound and ultra-low latency, a feature that was notably absent since their launch.

Apple has reintroduced a missing feature for USB-C AirPods Max with the upcoming iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS 15.4 updates. Starting in April, users will be able to enjoy lossless audio playback over a wired connection using the included USB-C cable or a newly available USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. This feature was previously available on the Lightning model of AirPods Max since its debut in 2020 but was notably absent from the USB-C variant, disappointing many buyers. The new capability enhances flexibility and professional use, allowing music creators to utilize AirPods Max for high-fidelity creation and mixing with Personalized Spatial Audio head tracking.
