AirPods Max USB-C Model Lacks Key Feature from Original Version

The new USB-C equipped AirPods Max are missing a key feature that was supported by the original Lightning model - wired playback.

Apple's recent update to the AirPods Max, which switched the charging port from Lightning to USB-C and added new color options, has unfortunately resulted in the removal of a key feature that was present in the original model. The new USB-C equipped AirPods Max no longer support wired playback, a function available in the previous Lightning version by using Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm Audio Cable. This feature allowed users to connect their AirPods Max to any headphone jack and listen over a wired connection, which was beneficial for situations like airplane travel or podcast recording. Attempts by users on Reddit to achieve wired playback through various third-party adapters have not been successful. It is still possible that Apple may decide to reintroduce this feature via either an adapter or firmware update in the future.
