This enhancement addresses a common issue where HDR and non-HDR content could appear distorted or lose color fidelity when captured in a screenshot. Google has been working on this problem, with earlier versions of Android 15 introducing algorithms to better manage HDR in screenshots. However, these solutions still resulted in the loss of HDR support. In contrast, Android 16 Beta 2 saves HDR screenshots as PNG files with an HDR gainmap, allowing the image to retain its original HDR elements on compatible displays.
