Android 16 Beta 3 Introduces a Tap-to-Close Feature for Apps

Android 16 Beta 3 introduces a new 'Close' option in the recent apps menu, offering an alternative way to dismiss apps without swiping.

New 'Close' Option in Android 16 Beta 3

Android 16 Beta 3 introduces a new way to close apps directly from the recent app menu. Previously, users would swipe up to access the recent app menu and then swipe away individual apps to close them. This method didn’t always completely stop background processes. Now, when you tap an app icon in the recent app menu, a 'Close' option appears alongside other actions like 'Split screen' and 'Pause app.' Tapping 'Close' is equivalent to swiping up to dismiss an open app.

While this new feature adds convenience, it does not replace the more thorough 'Force stop' option. The update also includes other minor improvements, but it doesn’t bring significant changes compared to previous versions of Android 16 Beta.
