Android 16 Beta 4: Dynamic Color for AOD Clocks

In the latest update of Android 16 Beta 4, a subtle but noticeable change has been introduced to the Always-On Display (AOD) clocks. Previously, all clock outlines were white, but now some expressive and bubbly clocks have adopted Dynamic Color, which is applied to both fullscreen and shrunken (top-left corner) versions of the AOD.

The Dynamic Color feature means that the clock outlines will match the color scheme of your device’s theme, potentially making them slightly darker than before. In testing, green has been observed as the most prominent color. To see the difference clearly, you can compare the new colored clocks with the corner date and battery percentage on the AOD.

Additional Changes in Android 16 Beta 4:

  • Darker Media Player Artwork: The media player’s artwork now appears darker.
  • New Features Gallery: A gallery showcasing all the new features introduced in this update is available.
  • Pixel 9a Participation: Owners of the Pixel 9a can now enroll in the Android 16 Beta program.
