Android 16 May Overhaul Quick Settings with Tile Resizing

Android 16's Quick Settings overhaul may also let you resize tiles

Google is reportedly working on a major update to Quick Settings in Android 16, which may include the ability to resize individual tiles. This feature was spotted in the latest Android 15 beta by the folks at Android Authority. The redesigned Quick Settings panel is expected to be no longer attached to the notification tray and will show four large tiles with several smaller icons below.

The new update will allow users to set up a denser layout for Quick Settings or retain today’s current setup with its larger tiles, or find any mix of those two. The exact plans for this new setup remain unclear, but it seems Google is moving towards a split notification and Quick Settings setup in Android 16.

Other Android OEMs are already making similar changes, such as OnePlus offering a split system option in their Android 15 update, Samsung expected to do the same in One UI 7 next year, and Nothing implementing resizable toggles in its Android 15 update, Nothing OS 3.0.
