Android 16 set for early '25Q2' release, potential impact on Pixel update unknown

Android Authority finds references to Android 16 as the '25Q2' release, pointing to an earlier than usual launch timeline.

Work on Android 16 is underway and references have been found pointing to a '25Q2' release which refers to April-June of 2025. This would be earlier than usual for the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) release, however it does not necessarily mean that Pixel devices will receive the update sooner. Finalizing Android earlier in the year may guarantee that Pixel phones will ship with the latest version if they continue launching in the summer.
