Android Introduces New Feature for Seamless App Logins on New Devices

Android's new feature allows users to remain logged in to apps when setting up a new device, making the process of transferring data and restoring access more seamless.

Google has introduced a new feature for developers that allows Android devices to keep users logged in to apps when setting up a new device. The Credential Manager API, responsible for sign-ins and passkeys, is adding a Restore Credentials feature, which lets apps "seamlessly onboard users" after they restore their data from a previous device. This means users will remain signed in and receive notifications without needing to open the app on the new device. A restore key will be saved to Credential Manager during the sign-in process, which is stored locally or in cloud backups. Upon launching an app on a new device for the first time, it requests this restore key to sign the user back in.
