Android XR: A New Era of Extended Reality Experiences
Google announces Android XR, a new form of the operating system for extended reality devices, aiming to provide an infinite desktop for productivity and control the OS and apps through Gemini, an AI assistant.

Google today announced Android XR as the next form factor for the operating system after smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, TVs and even cars. Using the term extended reality (XR), it covers virtual, mixed and augmented reality devices including headsets, screen-less AI glasses and AR glasses.
However, Google has tried this before with Glass and Daydream VR but by 2019 it had failed. This time they believe the technology is ready and that Gemini – a form of artificial intelligence assistants – will be the killer app for XR.
