Apple Braces for $900 Million Tariff Impact in Q2, Eyes Global Supply Chain Shifts

On its quarterly earnings call, Apple announced that current tariff policies will increase its costs by about $900 million in the April to June quarter. CEO Tim Cook stated that this figure could change if tariff policies are altered mid-quarter. For the previous period (January through March), tariffs had a limited impact due to supply chain optimization and inventory management. Looking ahead, Apple expects to minimize tariff impacts as most of its products sold in the U.S., including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and AirPods, will be sourced from countries like India and Vietnam instead of China. However, China remains the primary source for devices sold outside the U.S. The company is also dealing with a 125% tariff on certain categories of products imported to China, affecting its AppleCare and accessories businesses.
