Apple Challenges $570M EU Antitrust Fine, Claims Regulatory 'Disregard' for Compliance Efforts

Apple challenges a $570 million EU antitrust fine, claiming the European Commission ignored its calls for collaboration and feedback on compliance.

Apple has appealed a $570 million antitrust fine imposed by the European Union (EU) under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The company claims it repeatedly tried to comply with EU regulations but was ignored when offering specific solutions, such as dropping its anti-steering rules. Apple accuses the EU of not engaging in meaningful discussions and moving goalposts during compliance efforts. In response, the EU maintains that it has an open door policy for consultation and that it's up to companies to ensure compliance. The European Commission also claims to be continuing engagement with Apple and Meta (also fined) to ensure adherence to its decisions and the DMA.
