Apple Cuts iPhone Prices by $200 with Minimal Compromises on Apple Intelligence Features

Apple has announced that iPhone models supporting Apple Intelligence now come at a price reduction of $200, marking a 25% decrease from the previous cost. Apple Intelligence is a suite of privacy-focused AI features, utilizing a stateless server system called Private Cloud Compute to enhance user privacy compared to other AI systems that retain data for training models. The key features include Writing Tools for writing improvement, Clean Up for photo editing, and Genmoji for custom emoji creation.
The latest addition is Visual Intelligence, a feature exclusive to the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro, which allows users to reference objects in their environment for queries or actions like adding events to the calendar. The iPhone 16e, while missing the dedicated Camera Control button found on higher-end models, still supports Visual Intelligence through the Action button or Control Center.
Another minor difference is the Glowing Edge Light feature, which signals when Apple Intelligence is active. On the iPhone 16e, it wraps around the notch instead of creating a uniform glow around the display perimeter as seen on other models. Functionally, this difference is minimal and does not affect performance.
Overall, users can enjoy the full suite of Apple Intelligence features on the more affordable iPhone 16e with only these minor adjustments.
