Apple Hearing Study: Super Bowl Fans Get Really Loud
The Apple Hearing Study has confirmed that noise levels increase across the United States during special events like the Super Bowl, with elevated levels happening well before the game takes place.

The Apple Hearing Study monitored noise levels during the Super Bowls from 2021 to 2024 and found that supporters get considerably louder on Super Bowl Sunday. The rise was seen across all participants with an increase of between 15 and 3 decibels versus the following Sunday, beginning about three hours before the game started and lasting until three hours after it concluded. A three-decibel increase is close to a doubling of sound energy.
