Apple Leads the Way in Secure Messaging: Bringing End-to-End Encryption to RCS

End-to-End Encrypted RCS Messaging on iPhone Coming in Future Software Update
Apple, in collaboration with the GSM Association, has announced it will add support for a new RCS (Rich Communication Services) specification that includes end-to-end encryption. This enhancement brings RCS closer to iMessage in terms of security standards.
The timeline for this support is not yet clear, as the new higher-level encryption specification was only just released today. Apple stated that they played a leading role in the cross-industry effort to bring end-to-end encryption to the RCS Universal Profile.
In an official statement, Apple emphasized their commitment to privacy and security by highlighting iMessage's existing support for end-to-end encryption since its inception. They will add support for end-to-end encrypted RCS messages across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS in future software updates.
