Apple Adjusts App Store Pricing and Tax Rules
Brazil: New Tax on Foreign Developers
- Effective Date: May 16th, 2023
- Tax Introduced: CIDE (Economic Domain Intervention Contributions)
- Impact: 10% levy on foreign developers' earnings from paid apps and in-app purchases (IAP).
- Price Adjustments: Starting June 2nd, prices will automatically update for developers not based in Brazil.
- Exclusions: No changes if the developer has selected Brazil as their base storefront or manually manages prices.
Europe: New Subscription Policy
- Effective Date: August 4th, 2023
- Affected Countries: Austria, Germany, and Poland
- Policy Change: Subscribers must explicitly consent to auto-renewable subscription price increases.
- Notification Process: Weekly notifications until the user opts-in or the subscription ends.
- Grandfathered Pricing: Subscription price increases scheduled before August 4th follow current policies even if they renew after that date.
