Apple Poised to Elevate the Mac Experience with a MiniLED Upgrade for the Studio Display

Apple is reportedly planning a significant upgrade for the 27-inch Apple Studio Display, switching to MiniLED backlighting technology for better contrast and an overall improved visual experience.

Apple may be planning an update for the 27-inch 5K Apple Studio Display, which was originally released in 2022. According to Ross Young from Display Supply Chain Consultants, the upcoming revision will feature MiniLED backlighting, providing better contrast and more even distribution of light compared to the current LED-backlit model. The display is expected to retain its 27-inch size and 5K resolution. However, there are no rumors about an improved refresh rate or other significant changes. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that the updated display, codenamed J427, is expected to launch by 2026.
