Man convicted as part of 'Grinching' theft ring: Julian Pomales, known as 'Grinch,' led a gang that stole phones and credit cards from intoxicated clubgoers in Manhattan. They used the stolen funds to purchase $420,000 worth of Apple products and other luxury goods, which were resold for cash. Pomales was convicted of grand larceny, identity theft, robbery, burglary, and conspiracy.

British politicians call for fines for loud music on public transport: The Liberal Democrats in the U.K. have proposed fines of up to £1,000 (about $1330) for people who play music or videos loudly from their phones on public transportation. Florida has passed a law that will increase penalties for using tracking devices like AirTags in the commission of serious crimes.

AirPods lead to stolen goods stash: In Lawrence, Kansas, police followed a signal from stolen AirPods to a motel where they discovered hundreds of other stolen items, including a valuable guitar. The stolen items were returned to their rightful owners.

iPhone theft during cricket match: A Chief Judicial Magistrate in India had his iPhone 14 stolen while entering Wankhede Stadium for a cricket match. A probe is underway to identify the perpetrator.
