Apple Reverses Course: Plans to Boost iPhone Assembly in Brazil Amid Tariff Concerns

In early April, Exame reported that Apple was considering expanding iPhone assembly at Foxconn's facilities in Jundiaí, São Paulo, to circumvent U.S. tariffs. Initially, Apple denied these plans, stating that the factories were only for supplying the Brazilian market. However, Exame has since doubled down on its report, claiming that Apple is now planning to update machinery and processes at these facilities to supply the U.S. market as well. During a recent earnings call, Apple did not mention Brazil in discussions about tariff mitigation strategies, but confirmed plans to increase production in India and Vietnam for U.S.-bound products, while maintaining China as the primary production base.
