Apple Security Chief Cleared of Bribery Allegations After Years-Long Legal Battle

Apple Security Chief Found Not Guilty of Bribery Charges
Thomas Moyer, the head of global security at Apple, was found not guilty of bribery charges after a lengthy legal battle that spanned several years. The charges alleged that Moyer attempted to donate 200 iPads to the Sheriff's Office in exchange for concealed firearm permits. While Apple initially approved the donation, it was canceled when an investigation was launched by the District Attorney.
The case was dismissed in 2021 but reopened in 2023 due to an appeal by the Santa Clara District Attorney's Office. Moyer's legal team emphasized that there was no evidence of a quid pro quo arrangement, as Apple had confirmed the issuance of permits prior to the alleged bribe attempt.
The jury's not guilty verdict brings this controversial case to a close. Moyer expressed gratitude for the support he received from Apple and his family throughout the ordeal. Apple has not commented further on the proceedings beyond their initial statement that they found no evidence of wrongdoing.
