Apple Settles $20 Million Lawsuit Over Swollen Batteries in Early Apple Watch Models
Apple has agreed to pay out $20 million in a settlement related to claims that Series 1 through Series 3 Watches were unsafe due to an issue that caused batteries to swell and break critical components like the screen. Owners of affected watches who reported issues between April 24, 2015, and February 6, 2024 are eligible for compensation as part of this settlement.

Apple has agreed to pay out $20 million to settle a six-year-old class-action lawsuit that claimed early generation Apple Watches were unsafe due to an issue causing batteries to swell and break critical components. The settlement covers owners of the Original Apple Watch, Series 1 through Series 3 who reported issues related to battery swelling between April 24, 2015, to February 6, 2024. Payments will be issued after the court approves the settlement, but accepting payment waives a user's right to further legal action on this issue.
