Apple to Allow Google Maps as Default Navigation App in EU, Announces Plans for Translation Defaults
Apple will soon allow users in the EU to set Google Maps as their default navigation app, offering more choice and flexibility for iPhone owners who prefer Google's mapping service over Apple's own.

Apple is planning to add support for setting default navigation and translation apps on iPhones in the EU by spring 2025, as part of its compliance with the DMA (Digital Markets Act). This means users will be able to set Google Maps as their default navigation app. The features are expected to launch with iOS 18.4 in April.
