Apple to Ditch Broadcom Wi-Fi Chips in Favor of In-house Design for iPhone 17
Apple is reportedly working on replacing Broadcom's Wi-Fi processors with its own design in the iPhone 17 and other late 2025 devices, featuring Wi-Fi 7 chips as part of a long-term move to reduce reliance on third-party suppliers.

The iPhone 17 and other late 2025 Apple devices will feature the company's own Wi-Fi 7 chips as part of a longterm move away from third-party suppliers. Currently, Broadcom supplies over 300 million Wi-Fi+BT chips per year to Apple, but according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, with new products in 2H25, such as iPhone 17, Apple plans to use its own Wi-Fi chips. Kuo also says that the chips will be made by TSMC with N7 or 7-nanometer process.
