Apple vs Masimo: The $250 Patent Infringement Case Nobody's Talking About

Apple won a patent infringement case against Masimo, but was only awarded $250 in damages. The case centered around claims that Masimo had copied the design of the Apple Watch and charger for one of its products. However, the small award amount suggested that there was no significant financial damage done to Apple by Masimo's actions.
Despite winning the legal argument, Apple may have lost out on its overall goal. The company is currently embroiled in a larger patent dispute with Masimo concerning oxygen sensors built into its smartwatches, and needed to win this design case in order to try and get an injunction against Masimo's products. It succeeded in winning the legal point – but because it was only awarded such a small amount of damages, the practical impact will be negligible.
