Apple's Ambitious iPhone Roadmap

Apple is planning an ambitious iPhone roadmap, which could herald a new era for the iPhone with more models and significant design changes. The leaked plans, confirmed by Wayne Ma and Ming-Chi Kuo, indicate that:

  • 2023 (iPhone 17 Lineup): Includes the base iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air.
  • 2026: Begins with an early release of the iPhone 17e in spring. In fall, four models are expected:
    • iPhone 18 Air: Same size as the 17 Air.
    • iPhone 18 Pro: Corner hole punch design instead of a big cutout.
    • iPhone 18 Pro Max: Similar to the Pro model with corner hole punch.
    • iPhone 18 Fold: Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
  • 2027: Six new models, including two in spring and four in fall:
    • Spring Release: iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e.
    • Fall Release:
      • iPhone 19 Air: Larger screen size.
      • iPhone 19 Pro: Possibly no camera cutout at all.
      • iPhone 19 Pro Max: Similar to the Pro model with potential design changes.
      • iPhone 19 Fold: Second-generation foldable iPhone.

This roadmap suggests a significant expansion of the iPhone lineup, with new models being released in both spring and fall. The inclusion of foldables and major design overhauls is expected to reinvigorate consumer interest in the iPhone.
