Apple's App Store takedowns over copyright claims continue to annoy developers

Developers of two media-centric apps say Apple is not playing fair with the App Store, especially when it comes to dealing with copyright law.

Developers of two media-centric apps, TV Time and Musi, are unhappy with Apple's control over the App Store and its ability to remove apps based on claims of copyright infringement. TV Time was removed from the App Store due to a mishandled intellectual property complaint involving users uploading TV and film cover art, while Musi was taken down following multiple complaints, including some from YouTube itself.

Apple has a public website for submitting complaints about copyright infringement, where it will contact the provider of the disputed content regarding the claim and ask them to work with the claimant directly to resolve the issue. However, an increasing number of developers believe that copyright claims are being handled poorly and Apple's power to kick apps is excessive.
