Apple's Approach to Privacy with iOS 18.2's ChatGPT Integration

Apple has detailed the privacy measures it's implementing with the arrival of ChatGPT integration in iOS 18.2, outlining how users can control their data and interaction with the AI chatbot service.

Apple has integrated ChatGPT into iOS 18.2, with the feature designed to put users in control of their data. Users can choose whether to enable ChatGPT for Siri, Writing Tools and visual intelligence with the Camera Control, with the system off by default. If a user decides to use ChatGPT without an account, only the request and any attachments are sent to OpenAI while the IP address remains obscured. For those with a ChatGPT account, their data could be used to improve or train future models. Overall, Apple has outlined the steps it takes to ensure its users' privacy is protected as much as possible when using third-party services like ChatGPT.
