Apple’s Find My Feature Arrives in South Korea: A Milestone in User Connectivity

Find My Feature Now Available in South Korea Apple has officially announced that its iOS Find My feature is now available in South Korea. For years, this service was unavailable in the region due to undisclosed local laws that may have allowed government access to location data. Public demand and the beta testing of iOS 18.4 led to the activation of Find My in September 2024. With the official release of iOS 18.4, Apple has formally introduced the feature to South Korea.
Find My is a critical tool that helps users locate their most important items, friends, and family members while protecting personal information. The service was initially launched in the US with iOS 13 in 2019 but began as Find My iPhone back in 2010. In 2021, the introduction of AirTags significantly enhanced its capabilities, and in 2024, Apple increased the number of trackable items from 16 to 32.
The popularity of AirTags likely played a significant role in South Korean users pressuring Apple to bring Find My to their country.
