Apple's Foldable iPad: A Stepping Stone Towards an All-Screen MacBook?

Apple's foldable iPad could be a stepping stone toward an all-screen MacBook, with the company using it as a test-bed for its innovative technology.

Bloomberg reported that Apple has made prototypes of a foldable iPad, with plans to release it in 2028. The device is said to open out into a screen with a size approaching 20 inches.

The foldable iPad seems to lead the way to a MacBook with a soft keyboard. A key part of Steve Jobs' pitch for the original iPhone was that all existing smartphones of the time had physical keyboards, which are great when you need one but a waste of space when you don't. The idea is that you have a QWERTY keyboard by default, but when you're using Final Cut Pro all the keys transform into graphical representations of editing tools.
