Apple's Foldable iPhone Set to Arrive in Late 2026 With No Face ID: Analyst Predicts Key Features
iPhone Fold Predicted to Launch in Late 2026 with No Face ID
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple will launch its first folding iPhone, dubbed the 'iPhone Fold,' in late 2026 or early 2027. This device is expected to come with a 7.8-inch crease-free display and cost between $2,000 and $2,500. The design of the iPhone Fold will feature a book-like form factor with an outer screen measuring 5.5 inches, and it will have dual rear cameras and a front camera when opened. The device will be approximately 9mm to 9.5mm thick when folded and around 4.5mm to 4.8mm when unfolded.
A notable feature is the absence of Face ID due to space constraints. Instead, the iPhone Fold will include a fingerprint Touch ID sensor on its side. Kuo's predictions are based on specific details about the device, though he does not explicitly mention whether his report is derived from supply chain information or speculation.
Kuo also outlines the development timeline for the iPhone Fold, stating that Apple will finalize specifications by the end of 2Q25 and begin mass production in 4Q26. He estimates that Apple will ship between three to five million units in 2026, with a potential increase to around 20 million across both the first and second generations in 2027.
