Apple's Internal AI Chatbot Rivals ChatGPT as Executives Push for Siri Overhaul

Apple's Internal AI Chatbot Rivals ChatGPT
According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is testing an internal chatbot that has made significant progress in the past six months. The company’s executives believe this chatbot is now on par with recent versions of ChatGPT, despite initial reservations from Apple’s AI chief, John Giannandrea. Initially skeptical about turning Siri into a ChatGPT-like tool, Giannandrea and other executives are now pushing to enhance Siri's capabilities. This includes plans to allow the assistant to access and synthesize data from multiple sources on the open web. However, Apple has not yet integrated these advanced features into a released version of Siri, with the earliest expected debut being later in the iOS 19 cycle. The company is also not planning any major updates for Siri at the upcoming WWDC.
