Apple's iOS 18.3 Unleashes Starlink Satcoms for iPhone Users

Apple has introduced satellite connectivity features with the iPhone, initially through a partnership with Globalstar for emergency communications. iOS 18.3 now extends these capabilities to include Starlink satellite connectivity via T-Mobile, allowing select users to send messages even in areas without cellular service. This beta program, which T-Mobile started offering to a small group of iPhone users this week, enables texting via SpaceX satellites and is designed to work automatically, unlike the Globalstar service that requires the phone to be pointed at the sky. Future updates aim to support data connections and voice calls. Currently, the service is available only in the US.
