Apple's Passwords App: A Basic Option for Beginner Users

Apple's new Passwords app is a user-friendly option for basic password management, but it may not be enough to replace paid password managers for those who need more advanced features.

Apple has launched a new Passwords app for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. The app offers basic features like password generation and management of saved passwords, passkeys, codes, Wi-Fi, security and deleted items, making it convenient for users to manage their passwords across Apple devices signed in with the same account. However, there are some drawbacks such as no browser or Android support and lack of advanced features like custom fields, password history, and two-factor authentication, which are available on paid services like 1Password. Overall, the Passwords app seems to be targeting users who have never used a password manager before.
