Apple's Potential Foray into Smart Home Cameras: Rumors Suggest Game-Changing Move in 2026

Supply chain leak hints at two potential Apple home automation releases set for 2026
Apple supplier Goertek has reportedly received orders for two products due in 2026: a smart home camera and health-focused AirPods, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This comes after Apple abandoned its decade-long Apple Car project and rumors suggested an increase in investment in smart home and AI technologies.
Apple is making its first foray into the smart home IP camera market, with mass production scheduled for 2026 and targeting annual shipments in tens of millions. The company has previously relied on third-party products for HomeKit Secure Video.
The other growth opportunity for Apple is in wearables, with Goertek being reportedly tapped as the future primary supplier of health-focused AirPods. The iPhone remains Apple's biggest moneymaker.
