Apple's Upcoming 'HomePad': The Smart Home Device We've Been Waiting For

The HomePad looks set to offer versatility and power that's not available in any other home device, with features like a blend of watchOS and iOS StandBy Mode UI, and the ability to run Safari, Music, Notes, and several other Apple apps.

Apple is reportedly working on a new home device called 'HomePad' that will offer versatility and power not available in any other home device. The HomePad, which is expected to launch early next year, will focus on Siri, communication, and home control, running Safari, Music, Notes, and several other Apple apps but no App Store.

The device, about the size of two iPhones side by side with a 6-inch screen, features touch operation but will mostly be operated by voice through Apple Intelligence's new App Intents feature. The HomePad will have speakers, a FaceTime camera, and a battery, as well as several attachments for walls or standing on desks.

The home screen is customizable with the classic Apple widgets and Apple home controls, with a focus on security and integration with video doorbells and cameras.
