Audi A6 Avant E-Tron Paves the Way for Keyless Entry with Car Key; Porsche EVs to Follow

The Audi A6 Avant E-Tron is the first Audi model to support Car Key, a feature that allows users to lock and unlock their car using an iPhone or Apple Watch via Bluetooth and UWB technology. The Car Key functionality can be used passively, meaning users don’t need to take their phone out of their pocket to interact with the car. Additionally, it enables creating shared keys for temporary access. Although the feature has been quietly added to the Audi app, the app itself is noted for its unreliability and slow updates. Since the A6 Avant E-Tron shares a platform with future Porsche EVs, it's expected that Car Key support will also extend to these models, aligning with Porsche’s plans to electrify over 80% of its new deliveries by 2030.
