Bluesky Unleashes New Features: Longer Videos, Enhanced DMs & Improved Moderation Tools
Bluesky updates its platform with longer video uploads and enhanced direct messaging controls, further improving user experience.

What’s New in Bluesky Bluesky, the microblogging social network, has rolled out an update to version 1.99, introducing several new features and improvements.
- Longer Videos: Users can now upload videos of up to three minutes, compared to the previous limit of 60 seconds.
- Enhanced DMs: A separate inbox for approving DM requests from unknown users has been added, along with an option to reject conversations. This should help reduce spam in direct messages.
- Improved Moderation Tools: It is now easier to mute accounts from posts and report content or users to moderation.
- Tablet Layout Improvements: The platform’s layout has been optimized for tablet devices.
In addition, Bluesky launched a Trending Topics feature in December 2024, which is currently available globally and only in English. Support for more languages is promised in the future.
Bluesky now has over 32 million active users, and while it trails behind Threads (Meta's platform), it has been gaining traction recently. The app is free on the App Store and requires iOS 15.1 or later.
