ChatGPT Takes Over Android: Now Your Default Digital Assistant

ChatGPT as Default Assistant on Android
The latest beta update of the ChatGPT app, version 1.2025.070, introduces a new feature that allows users to set ChatGPT as their default AI assistant on Android devices. This means that when you long-press the power button or use other built-in shortcuts, ChatGPT will be the assistant that activates.
Users can choose from various AI assistants, such as Google’s Gemini and Perplexity, by setting them as the default option in the Android settings. When enabled, ChatGPT operates in a bubble overlay mode, similar to what you might see with other assistants like Gemini. This update is particularly useful for those who prefer using ChatGPT over other options.
Currently, the feature is still in beta, and some functionalities, such as the initial full-screen chat mode, are being refined. However, it’s a significant step towards providing more flexibility and choice to Android users when it comes to AI assistants.
