China Airlines Joins AirTag Lost Baggage Tracking, Expanding Global Service

Never lose track of your luggage again with the new AirTag lost baggage feature now available on China Airlines, enhancing traveler peace of mind.

AirTag Lost Baggage Feature Comes to China Airlines

Introduction

As of April 15, 2025, China Airlines has introduced support for the AirTag lost baggage feature, allowing passengers to share the location of their misplaced luggage with the airline. This initiative follows similar implementations by Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines earlier in the year.

Background

Since November of the previous year, users have had the option to create a shareable link from their AirTags, enabling them to provide precise locations to airlines when their baggage goes missing. Prior to this feature, passengers often faced discrepancies between what the airline reported and what they could see through their own tracking.

Global Rollout

Initially, Apple announced support from 17 major airlines, including Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Eurowings, Iberia, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, United, Virgin Atlantic, and Vueling. These airlines began integrating AirTag locations into their baggage-tracing systems to improve the customer service process for locating mishandled or delayed bags.

China Airlines Integration

China Airlines has now joined this network by collaborating with Apple to integrate its baggage system with AirTag functionality. The new "Apple AirTag Luggage Tracking Application" aims to speed up the process of finding lost luggage, which is part of the airline’s broader digital transformation efforts.

Highlights

  • Enhanced Tracking: Passengers can share real-time location data of their AirTags with China Airlines for quicker retrieval of lost baggage.
  • Digital Initiatives: This feature aligns with other recent digital advancements by the airline to improve customer experience.
