Craig Federighi Discusses Apple's Approach to AI and Siri's Future

Apple's head of software, Craig Federighi, discussed the company's approach to AI in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. While he couldn't discuss specifics about the future of Siri and Apple Intelligence, he expressed confidence that Siri will not become sentient but will continue to improve over time. He stressed that privacy is a key concern for Apple and highlighted the challenges that come with building on-device systems and cloud compute capabilities. The launch of Apple Intelligence will take place alongside iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 before the end of October.
