Crime Blot Hits Close to Home: Apple Store Thefts and UPS Robberies on the Rise

A man who bought a MacBook Pro discovered that someone else had already picked it up by pretending to be him at an Apple Store in Glendale, Calif., with CBS Los Angeles reporting that another customer experienced the same thing.

Several instances of Apple-related crime have been reported recently. In Glendale, Calif., two MacBooks were stolen from two different Apple Stores by individuals who impersonated the customers. In Missouri, two law enforcement officers were indicted for stealing nude photos from women's phones while on duty. A woman in Portland confronted homeless people she suspected of stealing her iPhone. Two men in New Jersey were arrested for attempting to steal an iPhone delivery from a UPS driver. A man in Southern California is suspected of stealing MacBook Pros twice from UPS drivers. In Los Angeles, a UPS driver was fired after being caught on surveillance video stealing an Apple Watch. Also, a car theft was solved in St. Paul, Minn., thanks to AirPods left in the stolen vehicle; and finally, in Singapore, the owner of a stolen iPhone threatened to place a curse on whoever stole it.
