Digg Reboot: Co-Founders Kevin Rose and Alexis Ohanian Bet on AI Moderation

Digg, once known as 'the homepage of the internet,' is making a comeback after being acquired by its co-founder Kevin Rose and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Digg was originally a social news site where users could upvote ('digg') or downvote ('bury') links posted by editors and other users. The site's influence was so strong that it could drive significant traffic to linked sites, but it eventually declined due to an unpopular update, manipulation issues, and the rise of Facebook. Now, Rose plans to relaunch Digg with a focus on AI-driven moderation to reduce the need for human moderators, who will instead serve more as 'directors of vibes, culture, and community.' The new Digg aims to compete with Reddit and is attracting investment from firms like True Ventures and Seven Seven Six. Interested users can sign up for early access at the relaunched domain.
