Epic Games CEO Predicts 'Fortnite' Return to US App Store by This Friday

'Fortnite' Potential Return to the US App Store
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has announced that 'Fortnite' could return to the US App Store later in the week, possibly by Friday. The game was removed from the App Store in 2020 due to a legal dispute over Apple's commission and in-app purchase policies.
A judge ruled that Apple violated a 2021 anti-steering injunction, leading to changes in Apple's commission and linking rules for external media. Sweeney extended an olive branch to Apple, stating that 'Fortnite' would return if Apple complied with the new rules globally. Although Apple is only complying in the US, Epic Games plans to distribute 'Fortnite' through its Sweden account.
Sweeney remains confident about the game's return and has stated that once it is back on the App Store, litigation against Apple in the US will cease. The legal battle between Epic and Apple has been ongoing for over four years, with Epic reportedly spending $100 million on legal fees and losing hundreds of millions in potential revenue.
