Epic Games Prepares to Bring Fortnite Back to iOS Worldwide on One Condition

Epic Games is set to bring Fortnite back to the iOS App Store in a groundbreaking move, contingent on Apple's agreement to extend global changes to its App Store policies.

Epic Games, led by CEO Tim Sweeney, plans to submit Fortnite back to the iOS App Store in the U.S. following a court ruling against Apple’s App Store practices. However, Fortnite's return hinges on a condition: Apple must extend the court's 'friction-free, Apple-tax-free framework' globally. This would allow Epic to inform users about purchasing V-bucks from its website, bypassing Apple's 15-30% commission. Sweeney proposes that if this global change is made, Epic will drop all legal actions against Apple and bring Fortnite back to the App Store worldwide. Fortnite was removed from the App Store in 2020 after violating App Store policies by offering direct payments for game currency, leading to a legal battle. Since then, players have relied on cloud streaming platforms to play the game.
