Epic Games Store Takes On Apple with New Webshops for Out-of-App Purchases

Epic Games announces the launch of Epic Games Store Webshops to assist iOS developers with out-of-app purchases, following a ruling against Apple. The new webshops will enable developers to direct users towards these web-based stores for transactions related to their apps, bypassing Apple's 27% commission fee. In addition, Epic is adjusting its revenue sharing model, offering a 0% fee on the first million dollars in revenue per app per year, followed by an 88% share for developers and 12% for Epic. Users making purchases through Epic Webshops will receive 5% in Epic Rewards. These changes come amidst Apple's struggle with Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers over non-compliance with a 2021 injunction.
