EU Set to Impose Minimal Fines on Apple Under DMA Amid Trump’s Criticism

According to a report from the Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the decisions, Apple is expected to be fined and ordered to adjust its App Store rules under the Digital Markets Act (DMA) as soon as next week. However, these fines are likely to be minimal, significantly lower than the potential 10% of global revenue that could have been imposed. The reduction in fines is attributed to a shift in strategy by the new European Commission leadership and concerns over escalating tensions with US President Donald Trump, who has criticized EU investigations into US tech companies. Despite this, plans for the fines and compliance measures are still set to be presented to the EU’s 27 member states today, with an announcement expected next week.
